One would not usually associate a HDB apartment in the heartlands with resort living. Our designer, Vincent Wong, challenges this stereotype by delivering a Scandinavian resort theme, for homeowner, Roger. Through the use of a mixture of light and dark wooden tones, specially curated wood furnishings, and white spaces, we invite you to peek into this wonderful resort in the heartland.
What seems like a lengthy space in Roger’s living room, is further accentuated by the long vertical wooden texture of the vinyl flooring. Featured above: an irregular shaped coffee table from a piece of solid wood that further brings out the resort vibe.
A semi open-concept kitchen is separated from the living and dining area with a sliding door, so that the entire space looks bigger at a single glance– an important tip in maintaining a Scandinavian resort theme. Not in picture: The kitchen, balcony and living room are actually all connected!
Image, top: The walkway leads to the immediately master bedroom, made of the original master bedroom and one common room combined. A wall cutout provides unique lighting and décor for the stairway landing.
Image, top: The children’s bedroom is furnished with subtle floor-to-ceiling wardrobes and double-decked beds that double as the children’s study corner. The children’s room even comes with its own attached bathroom (bottom picture).
You are only looking at the sleeping area of the master bedroom. The entire space is actually made of two rooms combined into one, with the other half (not pictured) acting as another mini living space. The warm colour scheme of the head board, sliding doors and curtains blends flawlessly into the theme. Two common bedrooms and the common toilet have been completely renovated and transformed to the existing master bedroom, private living space, walk-in wardrobe and master bedroom toilet!
